As a resident of Johnston County, you're entitled to a free library card at the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library.
Borrowing Account
A Borrowing Account allows you to check out any materials at Clayton Library, as well as physical materials from other libraries in the NC Cardinal Consortium. These accounts expire after three years. To obtain your library card, fill out the preregistration form and then visit the Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library within seven days. At that time, present a valid ID and proof of address to have a card issued to you.
If you do not visit the library within seven days, your preregistration will not be available to the library staff, but they will be happy to collect your information and set up an account for you in person.
Digital Only Account
With your digital card number, you'll gain access to our digital resources, including Libby and Kanopy, for six months. These cards do not require you to visit the library in person, until expiration, and are generally available within two business days. Once you fill out this form online, library staff will create your online account and send you an email with the username and password, once it is active.
View and complete the library card registration form.
To get your permanent card and to borrow our physical items, visit our downtown Clayton location with a valid photo ID and proof of Johnston County address.
