Utilities & Infrastructure
Clayton prides itself as a community that operates reliable, high-quality electric, water, and sewer infrastructure. Through strong public-private partnerships, our business community works with Town staff and elected officials to ensure that public facilities and services required for current and future growth are in place and in the works to keep up with demand.
The Town of Clayton can provide all of your electric, water, sewer, waste collection, and irrigation services, depending on your location within our jurisdiction. The Town also offers an optional Energy and Money Saving/Load Management Program for residential and non-residential customers to cut costs and receive bill credits for monitoring usage.
Electricity
Clayton is a proud hometown Public Power provider. We first switched on the power in 1913 and have been keeping the lights on ever since. We're one of 92 public power communities across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia and a member of ElectriCities. After storms, our local crews consistently restore power faster than the investor-owned utilities.
Water and Sewer
Clayton provides water and wastewater services to thousands of residential and commercial customers in partnership with Raleigh and Johnston County. A brand-new regional pre-treatment facility was just completed for our industrial partners.
Trash and Recycling
The Town of Clayton regularly receives 5-star customer reviews of All Star Waste, our garbage, recycling, and yard waste provider.
Fiber and Telecom
Spectrum, Brightspeed, CenturyLink, and Windstream are the primary providers of telecommunications service to residents and businesses in Clayton.
Natural Gas
Natural gas resources are available to customers though Piedmont Natural Gas.
